Amazingly, Xiaomi has pushed Apple and Fitbit off the cliff to secure its position as the top wearable vendor in the second quarter of 2017. The results were displayed at the recent event held by Strategy Analytics.

The Chinese tech company exported more than 3.7 million wearable units, capturing a total of 19% market. The company surpassed wearable tech giant Fitbit (3.4m) and Apple (2.8m).

Wearable surveyor IDC has conveyed that, with most recent stats, from June Xiaomi and Apple are head to head in competition. Xiaomi has retained the top position with 14.7% market share compared to Apple’s 14.5%. The stats could change anytime soon, but for now, Xiaomi is the winner.

On the other side of the bridge, Fitbit has yet again proved itself to be an unworthy competitor. The company’s sales are significantly decreasing from 5.7 million in Q216. As Xiaomi and Apple have taken over the lower and higher ends of the market, the customer base of Fitbit is gradually decreasing.

Regardless of the interesting report, Analysts at Strategy still believe that Apple will soon surpass Xiaomi in wearable technology. According to Cliff Raskind “Apple shipped 2.8 million wearables worldwide in Q2 2017, growing 58% annually from 1.8 million in Q2 2016. However, the rumored upcoming Watch Series 3 launch with enhanced health tracking could prove to be a popular smartwatch model and enable Apple to reclaim the top wearables spot later this year.”

Within a year of inception, Apple smartwatch has made a stout presence in the competition. They are second on the list! And, soon Apple will certainly overweight Xiaomi. Besides, Investors are also planning to spend big on Fitbit’s innovation, but we don’t yet have an idea about what it is. The mystery will be unfolded soon, hopefully.

According to James Park, Fitbit’s CEO, “Together, our brand, community and data connect in a virtuous circle.” He added, “Our brand and engaged community enables us to be the wearable of choice for both consumers and health ecosystem players, enabling us to capture more data and to produce better algorithms and software innovations, in turn positioning us to drive better health outcomes, and by default lower medical costs.”

There is no doubt that these companies are striving to take the first place as the innovator of wearable technology. But for now, Xiaomi is the top wearable gadget supplier in the world.
