Recently, SAP has collaborated with Centrica Energy and Service Company to implement IoT for efficient energy consumption management.
The collaboration will combine Centrica’s energy insights technology – Panoramic Power with SAP’s digital innovation- SAP Leonardo. SAP’s innovative solution brings together the power of big data, analytics, IoT, machine learning and blockchain on a single cloud platform using design thinking services.
The duo aims to provide new business value to commercial enterprises by providing a connected asset experience and transforming the energy market. Both companies are working with the same intent, and soon they will deploy efficient energy IoT solutions for businesses of every stature.
They plan to do so by combining the Panoramic Power technology and Artificial Intelligence on SAP Leonardo with SAP Asset Intelligence Network. If you are not familiar with SAP Asset Intelligence Network, it is a cloud-based asset information repository that connects manufacturers, operators, and third-party service providers to ensure smooth flow of work. Together, they will unveil an efficient solution that will optimize the energy consumption.
However, the relation between SAP and Centrica was not always smooth. As Computer Weekly reported in March, the energy provider hired Workday’s cloud HR technology by replacing SAP on a different project. The decision was made when Centrica’s authority figured out that SAP was much expensive than other cloud-based alternatives. But later, they found that the platform was much complex than SAP, and their employees had a hard time to use the solution. As a result, the final product failed in the global market, and all their investment went straight down the drain.
Centrica believes that with this collaboration they can put forth the advantages of SAP Leonardo IoT Bridge and effectively manage the energy supply chains. The solution combines the expertise of both companies to pre-configure work environments and optimizes energy consumption to achieve real-time results.
